NOTW Valentine's Day 2013: Love Is In The Air

First of, Happy Chinese New Year for all of you who celebrated <3 Hope you all had a wonderful celebration and may the year of snake will be better in everything :D

Moreover, I do apologize that I was a bit behind for publishing blog posts lately. I was overwhelmed with my work and personal matter. But I always try my best to spare some time to write a blog post at least once a week. Today's post will be another nail art tutorial, dedicated specially for this coming Valentine's day <3

I can't believe that Valentine's day is only 2 days away. I know that most of you might spend this special day with your beloved partners. It could be your boy/girlfriend, husband/wife, family members or best friends. Therefore, to make it more special let's make something fun with our nails too ^^ 

The theme of this nail is still all about love and hearts, and I named this design as "Love Is In The Air", because I personally believe that love could be everywhere, just like air. 

Products used:
1. Base coat and top coat
2. Light blue polish - China Glaze Flyin' High
3. White polish - Orly French Manicure Nail Lacquer
4. Red polish - Revlon 745 Frankly Scarlet
5. Dotting tools
6. Blank paper

Tutorial:
1. Apply base coat to protect your natural nails
2. Apply your choice of base color, for example light blue color to represent the sky
3. After applying your base color, start drawing clouds.
a/ Using a dotting tool dipped into the white polish, start to create white dot next to each other until it looks like cloud
b/ Repeat the same steps to create random other clouds
4. Add little hearts between clouds using dotting tool dipped into red polish. Place two small red dots next to each other until it looks like heart.
5. <<Optional>> You could add fimo (heart shaped with love sign) for nail decoration, like what I did on my both thumbs.
6. Let it dry for 30 minutes, then finish with top coat to seal your design.
7. And voilà...you are good to go with this cute Valentine's nail!!!

Review: NYX Pumpkin Pie Round Lipstick

Today's post will be my first review about lipstick. Honestly I don't wear lipstick on my daily basis. But if I do, I tend to pick more nude and natural shades. Therefore, today I will share one of my nude lipstick from NYX. Yes, NYX again!! Hahaha.. because as you know, I just can't get enough of NYX products ^^

It is NYX Round Lipstick- Pumpkin Pie (LSS630). I have actually picked up other shades too and generally impress with NYX's Round Lipsticks due to price, color selections, and color payoff. I have also noticed that Pumpkin Pie has particularly snatched everyone's heart for nude choices. So, I was so happy when I finally picked it up.

Packaging

It comes in a small and convenient black tube with the shade name is written on top of the cap. The base of the lipstick shows the color/shade you get.  This is really effective because you don't have to open the cap to see the actual shade. 

Ingredients

Bees wax, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelila) wax, Ceresin, Microcrystaline Wax, Polyethylene, Octyldodeanol, Polyisobutene, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Diisostearyl Malate, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Isostearyl Isostearate. bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipade-2, Tocopheryl Acetate, B.H.A., Fragrance. MAY CONTAIN: Mica (CI77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Iron Oxide Red (CI77491), Iron Oxide Yellow (CI77492), Iron Oxide Black (CI77499), D&C Red No. 6 (CI15850), D&C Red No. 7 (CI15850), D&C Red No. 28 (CI145410), D&C Red No. 36 (CI12085), FD&C Yellow No. 5 Al Lake (CI19140), FD&C Blue No. 1 Al Lake (CI42090).

Color, Texture and Pigmentation

Pumpkin Pie is a peachy nude color. It has semi matte finish which looks natural and wearable for anytime. The pigmentation is rather light with one swipe, and you really had to layer it on to build up the color. But I'm totally like it because I don't need to worry if the color will look tacky on my lips. The texture is creamy and smooth but slightly dry and doesn't moisturize enough. I must apply lip balm before put this lipstick on to avoid dry lips with crack.  The wear time was also quite good - two (2) to three (3) hours depending on how much you are eating/drinking/talking during that time.

Price

Considering the price and the color selection, I couldn't resist to pick some shades from them. It retails around IDR 47,000 or USD 4.00.

Overall thoughts

Before I continue, a little heads up for you that actually each of NYX Round Lipstick has slightly different texture. I bought other two shades and they are not as dry as Pumpkin Pie. I have no idea if in this case I unluckily got the bad quality one. Another concern is that most of NYX Round Lipstick tend to be easy to melt due to the heat. If it happened to get your lipstick start to melt/break, put it immediately in the refrigerator for few minutes to avoid further breaks. 

Other than that, Pumpkin Pie shade is really beautiful and natural. The application is very smooth, creamy, and buildable. Not forget to mention, that the price is not expensive at all. 

Lastly, I'd recommend using this particular lipstick on top of lip balm and maybe clear lip gloss to seal it and make it work a lot better. And after all, I would still buy this again just for the price and colour.
