NOTW: Essie Like To Be Bad

Hi pretties!!

Another NOTW post for you today! Lately I often painted my nails with more bold statement colors. But for this week I want to wear more natural shade. There's nothing more natural for girl to have healthy and good looking manicure with soft and delicate nail color. That's why I'm rocking soft pastel pink nail this week.

-under natural light-
My choice of soft pink polish this week is Essie Like To Be Bad. It is one of Essie's Wedding Collection for 2012. There are actually four shades released from the collection which are mostly pastel-y colors. All of them are very girly and romantic shades.

-indoor-
Like To Be Bad is a pretty soft pastel pink with slightly pink shimmer. I would say it is a 'barely there' pink shade; not a statement color but gives you a polished look manicure. However, it might look a little bit peachy on me. But overall, the shade is really girly and versatile for everyone on any occasions, including your big wedding day.

Besides,  it has a nice formula with semi sheer consistency. I normally applied three coats to get nice full opacity. There was slight streaking, but it still could be controlled. However, I was a bit disappointed with how the shimmer seen on the nail. If you look at the bottle, you should notice the gorgeous micro shimmer in it, but in fact after you put it on the nail, the shimmer is hardly shown. Such a bummer!! Other than that, the finish was perfectly shiny and glossy.

I would recommend to try this polish especially for fan of pink polishes and pastel-y colors. It is such a sweet and delicate color to add in your collection ^^
You'll never go wrong with this! What do you think of the shade?? Love it or hate it??!!

NOTW: Essie Mint Candy Apple

Goodbye September and Welcome October!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful September and ready to keep rockin' in October...

Today I have another pretty polish that has been my all time favorite color up to now.  This is a polish from Essie, Mint Candy AppleMint Candy Apple is a pretty and soft pastel mint green color. This gorgeous color was originally released from their Winter 2009 Sweet Time of Year CollectionThis nail polish is one of Essie's bestsellers, too.

Swatch of Essie Mint Candy Apple -Natural light
I have never been into green before, however since mint green color is really everywhere this year, I just can get enough off this color ever since. Besides, who doesn't like pastel colors?? It is an absolute feminine and romantic color palette. Moreover, don't you think it's pretty tempting to grab this polish after heard its name ?!! Mint.. and Candy Apple.. <3

Well, there are bad things about this polish, too, such as:
1. For me, the formula is a bit streaky, especially on the first coat. It took me to apply three coats for an impeccably smooth and opaque finish.
2. It also chips quite easy, especially when you compare with O.P.I polishes.
But, after all I'm still in love with the color and it simply pays off the weaknesses. I only wish that O.P.I has a dupe of this color too.

I would say that this color is actually more suitable for spring and summertime. I know that it's already Fall / Autumn season now, and  the color might be too light for Fall/Autumn even coming Winter season, but I'm so all over it and just can't stand it! However, I was also surprised that Essie actually released this polish in their winter collection.

In my opinion, Mint Candy Apple is a must have nail polish, especially if you love mint green color. If you haven't tried any nail polishes from Essie, you should definitely give this polish a try. I definitely could wear this color all year around without getting bored of it.

What do you think of this polish?? Would you like to give it a try??

NOTW: Contrast Manicures

Hello beauties... Back again with my Nail of the Week's update XD

I was a bit bored lately to paint all my nails with the same colors. That's why I've been searched for some current nail trends through magazine and internet. Then, I decided to play around with one of the trends, which is called contrast manicures, where you paint your nails within the same color scheme for a refined contrast or even with totally different colors for stronger accent.

I painted my nail pastel minty color with tint of jade green on my ring finger. Those colors paired together is really a nice combo. It definitely screams spring-y theme for me.

Below are nail polishes I used to create the look!!

"Essie Mint Candy Apple - Winter 2009 Sweet Time of Year Collection"
I bought it at Enchanté Yourlittlesecret
It's very pretty pastel minty green to wear. I currently obsessed with mint color, which obviously the color of the season. Essie Mint Candy Apple is definitely my favorite mint polish, and with 3 coats you'll get it perfect.

"OPI Jade is the New Black - Hong Kong Spring 2010 Collection"
Got mine at Enchanté Yourlittlesecret
This jade green polish is a gorgeous unique green. I couldn't find any dupe of this shade up to now.  I could easily have gotten away with only two coats. This color looks classy and edgy at the same time.

What do you all think of this trend?? If you do recreate it, tell me in the comment what colors do you like to pair together??

NOTW - Essie Matte About You Top Coat

Hello my lovelies ;)

I recently got Essie Matte About You Top Coat as the addition of my nail polishes collection. I remember that matte polishes were become trend a while back. However, the standard price of matte polishes are slightly more expensive than regular polishes. I was so excited when I first heard about this top coat, because it means that I could create matte finish look for any nail polishes I have, just by using one coat of Essie Matte About You Top Coat. For nail of this week, I paired it with OPI Nicki Minaj Fly

"Fly" from Nicki Minaj Mini Collection (left); Essie Matte About You Top Coat (right)
"Fly" wet polish, no top coat (with flash)
"Fly" wet polish, no top coat (without flash)
"Fly + one coat of Essie Matte About You Top Coat"

Do you see the difference look made by this top coat?

I just applied one coat of Essie Matte About You over Fly wet polish, and it instantly changed the look. This coat also dries so quickly. For the miss part of this top coat, I would say that the polish tends easily to crack/chip than using normal clear top coat. However to fix that, you could just reapply the polish on the cracked/chipped part and finish it with the Essie Matte About You Top Coat  once more, and you will get your perfect matte look back.

Overall, this top coat is a useful and worthwhile product. I recommend this top coat for all of you who are likely don't want to splurge much on nail polishes but still want to have different look for your nails.

I personally do like both version. What do you think?? Please drop me a comment if you also try this top coat <3
