NOTW : Halloween Nail Edition #3 - Spider Web

Dear lovelies,

This post will be about my last design for Halloween Nail Edition 2012. Honestly, I did enjoy so much posting all those nail tutorials and felt kinda addicted to it. I hope you all are also having fun with this kind of themed post.

As you can see from the title, today's tutorial is about recreating spider web on your nails. I thought this design is simple yet fun for Halloween. I'd say this last tutorial isn't as complicated as the other two designs. It required less products, but more attention to detail. For some of you might found it a bit tricky because patience and precision are required for doing this design perfectly.

Here is the final result:

Products used:
1. Base coat
2. Red nail polish - OPI Color So Hot It Berns
If you have an orange nail polish, you might use it to make it feel more Halloween
3. White nail art pen - Etude House Nail Art Pen
It's not necessary to use white, you might use other alternative color, like black or gold.
4. Top coat
Tutorial:
*Reminder: Don't forget to apply base coat first to protect your nails!!
  1. Paint your entire nail red/orange, as you prefer
  2. With white nail art pen, create a big X thin line on your nail
  3. Draw + in the middle of your nail until it looks like *
  4. Create little curve lines between the * and make the curves connected to each other
  5. Wait 15-20 minutes to let the design dry, then apply top coat to preserve your nail design
In addition, there are some notes to be considered:
  • You could maximize your creativity with this design. For the color options, you might alternate them as you prefer. I actually added shimmery silver gold effect on the white line, instead of just plain white stripes, for a bit of variation and make it look more glam.
  • I suggest to use the nail art pen, instead of nail art brush, because it is easier to draw lines with the same thickness.
And that's it... I hope you get the big idea of this spider web design.

If you haven't read my previous Halloween nail design, you may check my Cute Frankenstein and The Mummy Returns posts. Please let me know in the comment below which design do you like better??! If you happen to recreate one of those designs, don't hesitate to share the pics to my twitter account.

Thank you all for stopping by and don't forget to follow my blog if you haven't ;)

NOTW: Halloween Nail Edition #2 - The Mummy Returns

Hi everyone...

As my promise, I'm back with my next Halloween nail art tutorial :) Today's nail art will be about recreating a mummy look. I guess this look will be different and fun for Halloween theme. Below is the sneak peek of the final result!!

To achieve the look, you need to prepare:
1. Base coat and top coat
2. Gold or bronze polish- I used OPI Designer de Better
3. Black nail polish + Nail art brush (or a black nail art pen)-Orly Liquid Vinyl
4. White nail polish - OPI Alpine Snow
5. Nail Dotting tool
6. Makeup sponge
7. A piece of paper

Now, let's follow below steps!!!
1. Apply base coat to protect your nails
2. Paint your entire nail white
3. Put two drops of gold polish on a piece of paper. Then, using a make up sponge, lightly dab the gold polish on nail
4. Dab the gold polish to your other nails to add some texture.
5. Using a black nail polish and nail art brush (or black nail art pen), make random diagonal and horizontal lines
6. Under tip of the nail, make a half curve shape between the lines and fill it in with black color
7. a) Using a dotting tool and white polish, make two white dots touching each other for the mummy's eyes
  b) With dotting tool and black polish, make two smaller dots for his pupils
8. Let the design dry about 15-20 minutes then preserve your nail design with a top coat.
Closer look of the design
It's not as difficult as it seems. If you struggle using nail art brush, I recommend you to use the nail art pen, which is easier to handle. I hope you like this nail design as much as the previous one, and let me know if you recreate this nail design for your Halloween party.

Review: Too Cool For School Angel Hand Cream

Hello lovelies,

As my previous post in September, I promised to review each of free products given away by Cosmopolitan Indonesia Magazine September issue. That’s why, today’s post will be about my review of Angel Hand Shea Butter from Too Cool for School.

Angel Hand Shea Butter is a hand cream from Too Cool for School, a Korean brand. It claims that it could moisturize your dry hands and keep your hands like an angel hands. It's also suitable for all skin types. They actually have three types of this Angel Hand cream:  Shea Butter, Grapefruit, and Moringa. And as you could see at the image above, I got mine in Shea Butter. The retail price of this hand cream is about IDR 72.000 or USD 8.00 for 40 ml size.

Product Swatch of Too Cool for School Angel Hand Cream
 My verdicts:
1.  I was first attracted by the angel image on its silver aluminum tube packaging. I found it's quite girly. Besides, the name is really catchy. Who doesn’t want to have an Angel Hand?? Hahaha… although I have no idea how is the hand of an angel, but I believe it supposed to be really soft and smooth.

2.  Mine is shea butter, which is really good for skin. If you happen to pay attention to the contents of your other skin cream, you might find shea butter is listed there. Our skin could absolutely benefit from it because:
  • Shea butter has proven as an effective treatment for fading scars, eczema, burns, rashes, acne, blemishes, dark spots, skin discolorations, chapped lips, stretch marks, and wrinkles.
  • It helps to restore skin elasticity
  • It works excellently as general skin moisturizer ideally for severely dry skin.
3.  This hand cream smells nice and the texture is pretty light. It does easily absorb into the skin without leaving sticky residue at all. Rub some cream into your hands and in a few minutes your skin will be left soft and smooth with lasting results.

4.    Last but not least is surely the price. In my opinion, the retail price is not too expensive for 40 ml product. Not forget to mention that this product works for real.

I normally apply it every time I feel my hands dry. To let you know in advance that now I live in the tropical climate that tends to be warm, and sometimes humid. I had studied abroad before, therefore I know the importance of hand cream especially in the winter time to prevent extremely dry skin.
Too Cool for School Angel Hand is made in Korea, which also experiencing winter season, so I guess it is still supposed to be an effective hand cream in the wintertime.

Have you ever tried this hand cream?? What is your favorite brand of hand cream?

NOTW : Halloween Nail Edition #1 - Cute Frankenstein

Dear lovelies,

Halloween is coming really soon... Therefore, for Nail of The Week (NOTW) posts of October, I challenged myself to do three different Halloween nail art tutorials that will be uploaded one by one each week. You are welcomed to recreate the design as many times as you like. I will try my best to upload it as early as possible, so you could practice your desired design first before the big day. I appreciate if you could share some photos of your re-creation to my twitter account @classyjezzie.

For the first design, I choose to recreate a Frankenstein look. This design requires a bit more details compared to the other two upcoming designs. However, it is still pretty easy yet cute. And let's see below is the finish look!

Without further ado, here is what you need to prepare before jump into the tutorial!
  1. Base coat and top coat
  2. Black polishChina Glaze Ink with Ultra-Fine Nail Art BrushYou always can use any black polish and separate nail art brush
  3. White polish Orly French Manicure Nail Lacquer
  4. Lime green nail polishOPI Who the Shrek Are You?
  5. Nail Dotting tools

Now, let's do it!!!
Reminder: Protect your nails with base coat!!
1. Paint your entire nails with a lime green nail polish
2. Draw Frankenstein's hair on the tip of the nail, with black nail polish and nail art brush
3. Draw his pair of eyes, with white polish and dotting tool
4.a) Use black nail polish and nail art brush to draw the other details, such as: the mouth, eyebrows, and stitches for lips
  b) Use black nail polish and dotting tool, to dot in the iris of his eyes
5. Wait 15-20 minutes to let the design dry
6. Apply a fast drying top coat to preserve the design
7. Repeat the same steps for your other nails, and voilà... here is the cute Frankenstein nail!

That's it girl... So easy, right??
In case you find it a bit tricky to use the brush, don't be stressed out!! You still have time to practice. When you are doing your own nail art, try to enjoy the fun!! It eventually has an impact on your finish result.

I hope you all enjoy this tutorial and thanks for stopping by. I will be back with other Halloween nail tutorial next week.

Review: Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm

Hi everyone ;)

I'm sure we all beauty product junkies heard so many raves about how great is Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm. I have heard about this product for quite a while ago, but it was just available in Indonesia for few months. So today I decided to review this product.

For a heads up, I got the Maybelline Baby Lips in Indonesian version. That's why, you will see the packaging is slightly different from USA version. I will go ahead to the product review first, and carry on with the comparison of both version.

Maybelline Baby Lips Antioxidant Berry
How to use: Twist the bottom part 1-2 times then apply on the lips, reapply it if necessary
Actually, there are three variants of Baby Lips available in Indonesia market: Energizing Orange, Smoothing Cherry and Antioxidant Berry. And, I picked up my Maybelline Baby Lips in Anti-Oxidant Berry, since the packaging is in pink color.. (yeah..silly me!!)

Pros:
Swatch on lips
  1. Yup, I absolutely love the color combination of the packaging~ pink and blue. It's so cute and really girly. Besides, its mini size simplify us to carry it around, especially in the Fall time when the weather started getting chilly.
  2. It has a nice soft smell of berry; sweet and refreshing
  3. The other plus point is certainly because it contains SPF 20
  4. It actually moisturizes and smooth my lips quite well. Once you applied, it gives your lips a bit of shine. But it fades after a while and leaves natural looks on the lips .
  5. It is stated that this product could help to reduce the fines lines after one week usage. The good thing is I found my fines lines are not as visible as before, so I could say that it does work. But remember to keep applying it frequently, including before going to bed.
  6. The price of this lip balm is really cheap, about IDR 18.500 or USD 2.00 and you could find it easily at the Maybelline counter or some drugstores.
Cons:
  1. It claims that this lip balm will last for 8 hours of moisturizing the lips. In fact, it did not have any lasting effect for moisturizing. After an hour, I felt that my lips get dry again and need to reapply the balm.
  2. I do like the berry scent of this lip balm, but it doesn't have any taste once you applied on lips. I know it is totally acceptable, but I wish it has a bit of berry taste too. It will be more yummy and kinda remind you to keep reapply it  ;)
For further information, here I made some comparisons between the Indonesian and USA version:

                      areamagz.com
The differences
Indonesian Version
1.Packaging
Comes in a bottom twist tube, with small cap in the same color as the "Baby Lips" name written on the tube
 USA Version
1.Packaging
Comes in a bottom twist tube, with long transparent cap with "Baby Lips" name written on it, not on the tube
2.Varieties
Comes in 3 varieties named:
Energizing Orange, Smoothing Cherry, and Antioxidant Berry
2.Varieties
Comes in 6 varieties named:
Quenched, Peppermint, Cherry Me, Grape Vine, Pink Punch, and Peach Kiss
3.Price
Around IDR 18.500 or USD 2.00

3.Price
Around USD 4.00
Retail price at Indonesian online shop around IDR 89.000
4.Color and pigmentation
When you applied on the lips, it just give a clear shine effect, without any color/tint
4.Color and pigmentation
It is a tinted lip balm, so when you applied it leaves a beautiful sheer color on lips

Overall thought:
I do like this Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm. Whether I'd like to repurchase it, I will say YES... seeing that it's pretty cheap and does the job pretty well after all.
I have not tried the USA version yet, but as I heard it is pretty awesome tinted lip balm. I would love to try it at some point. You also could pre-order the Maybelline Baby Lips in USA version via online shop, Enchanté Yourlittlesecret.

What do you think of this Maybelline Baby Lips?? Have you tried both version??

NOTW: Essie Mint Candy Apple

Goodbye September and Welcome October!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful September and ready to keep rockin' in October...

Today I have another pretty polish that has been my all time favorite color up to now.  This is a polish from Essie, Mint Candy AppleMint Candy Apple is a pretty and soft pastel mint green color. This gorgeous color was originally released from their Winter 2009 Sweet Time of Year CollectionThis nail polish is one of Essie's bestsellers, too.

Swatch of Essie Mint Candy Apple -Natural light
I have never been into green before, however since mint green color is really everywhere this year, I just can get enough off this color ever since. Besides, who doesn't like pastel colors?? It is an absolute feminine and romantic color palette. Moreover, don't you think it's pretty tempting to grab this polish after heard its name ?!! Mint.. and Candy Apple.. <3

Well, there are bad things about this polish, too, such as:
1. For me, the formula is a bit streaky, especially on the first coat. It took me to apply three coats for an impeccably smooth and opaque finish.
2. It also chips quite easy, especially when you compare with O.P.I polishes.
But, after all I'm still in love with the color and it simply pays off the weaknesses. I only wish that O.P.I has a dupe of this color too.

I would say that this color is actually more suitable for spring and summertime. I know that it's already Fall / Autumn season now, and  the color might be too light for Fall/Autumn even coming Winter season, but I'm so all over it and just can't stand it! However, I was also surprised that Essie actually released this polish in their winter collection.

In my opinion, Mint Candy Apple is a must have nail polish, especially if you love mint green color. If you haven't tried any nail polishes from Essie, you should definitely give this polish a try. I definitely could wear this color all year around without getting bored of it.

What do you think of this polish?? Would you like to give it a try??
